Ongoing support for Parents & Carers
Consultation with Parents
I work with parents virtually or in-person to help them boost their confidence in their parenting skills, improve their communication with their children, and gain a better understanding of their children’s needs and behaviours. I use a person-centred approach and solution-focused therapy, while also providing emotion coaching. I offer practical advice and effective strategies to implement at home.
Creating a safe and non-judgmental space for communication is one of the key benefits of parent consultation. It allows parents to openly discuss their concerns and challenges without fear of criticism or judgment.
One-to-one sessions are scheduled monthly for an hour, but this can be adjusted based on the family’s requirements.
Parenting groups, training & support
I run small groups of a maximum of 7 parents whose children experience neurodevelopmental difficulties, have a diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Condition, or have other learning and behavioural issues. The groups are formed according to the child’s age group and developmental stage. I deliver workshops on specific topics such as:
- Understanding and Supporting children with a diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Condition, a training in line with the Cygnet-based standards.
- Developing Positive behaviour at home through Emotion Coaching.
- Attachment difficulties, separation anxiety difficulties.
Group seminars and workshops can be arranged virtually or face-to-face at a specific venue. These groups of parenting support offer a safe and supportive environment where parents learn new skills, connect with others facing similar issues, share their experiences and learn from each other. From my experience working with parents, the participants go on and create supportive networks that communicate and support each other.
